“This house was so CUTE! As for a cabin in the woods, this exceeded our expectations. It was cold in Helen the days we were there, but the room heaters felt so good and we fully enjoyed the fireplace. We reviewed and took advantage of the host recommendations. The German restaurant near the cabin was delicious and the kids loved that there was a creek running by the deck. It was too cold to fully enjoy the outdoor space, but the indoor space was cozy. The directions for check in were perfect because the GPS stopped at an intersection, so we were able to easily follow them and get to the cabin. On a warm day and as long as you don't mind many steps, you can definitely walk to the downtown area, but we ended up driving into town to save time and not freeze.”

“We had a great time at the cabin. It is not fancy at all but the furnishings were just what we needed for a weekend away and the outdoor space was so unique with the creek running right under the porch! We had a couple issues upon checkin but they were handled promptly and the customer service was great. Our kids were able to walk to the Fun Factory it’s so close. It is walkable to downtown but the walk behind the Fun Factory building was too dark for my liking so we drove each time. It’s a short 2 min ride to Betty’s and all the other great places downtown.”

“We went to see the fall leaves and the property was full of leaves all around - we literally could not see the ground. This was a great start to our weekend and my kids literally made piles of leaves and played in them. The road approaching the property is dark and could use some lighting. As far as inside the property goes, it was cozy, clean and comfortable. Since there is only one bathroom, we had to take turns to use it but not a deal breaker. The creek in the back yard was fully covered with leaves so we could not enjoy the water but next time we may try to visit again when the leaves are gone. We plan to visit this place again and plan to stay here longer. A true piece of heaven!! Thanks to the owner.”

“We booked this trip long before we knew of hurricane Helene. We decided to take the chance and head down from Kentucky anyway. The cabin we originally booked had no power, with no ETA on when it might. They graciously offered us a different cabin that did have power located closer to town. The cabin was clean, well maintained, and in walking distance to all the fun in Helen. We had a great time!! Thank you Blue Creek Cabins for working with us in a trying time and making our weekend getaway great!!”

Laundry room Kitchen well stocked The queen mattresses were comfortable. Good communication from property management Room for improvement - Many cobwebs, in room corners and on lamps Very musty smell even in the cabinets & clinging on the dishes. Mildew issues in bathroom with visible black spots on floor corners. Bunk beds so squeaky they can be heard from the other room. Any amount of rolling over movement or even just coughing causes them to start squeaking. (I see a review from 2021 that they've been like that for quite a while.) We dealt with a rodent roaming at night which affected my sleeping for the first couple of nights, but thankfully the property manager sent someone someone immediately to trap it”

“This is a great cabin in Helen! It’s a little strange when you first pull into the drive because it’s directly behind the “fun factory” but once you pull into the house it’s amazing. Incredibly secluded. You cannot see or hear the fun factory at all. It feels as though you’re staying in a quiet mountain resort! There is a beautiful little babbling creek the runs right through the back part of the house. Very fairytale like. The patio is really large and has great seating. I loved it here, such a cool place. Definitely within walking distance of the main part of Helen. My only minor complaint was that the bed in the master was a little uncomfortable - very hard and seemed maybe a little smaller than a queen? Not sure but it didn’t deter us room having a great stay. We’ve also booked again for later this year, highly recommend!”

“Cabin was rustic and cute. Setting was a little weird being behind the fun center and not what we were expecting. It was not as close to the busy parts of town and definitely wouldn’t walk to get to the shops and restaurants. But it was very quiet and the sound of the creek was peaceful. Would be great to take a nap in the hammock in the warmer seasons! Loved the fireplace. Comfortable stay.”

“House is nice, quiet and was a quick walk from town. The backyard is peaceful and my son loved the creek. We enjoyed our time at the cabin. But I did want to mention that the house does not have central heat or air conditioning. They did a good job of making sure each bedroom/living room have air conditioning units. But for heat you have one heater in the main living room and a heater in one bedroom. The bunk bedroom has a space heater inside. We couldn’t get it to turn on. Smoke detectors in this house are far between and are only located outside of the bedroom doors instead of both inside and outside the doors. The fireplace helps keep the house warm when it’s on but as soon as you cut it off the hose beings getting cold again. This was challenging while staying at the house and two of the nights being very cold for toddler and ourselves. Overall we would stay here again in the summer but would probably find other accommodations for the winter.”

“Coming up from the Hot South Florida weather, we enjoyed the cold weather and fireplace/pit nestled in a woodsy environment. Perfect little cabin for a short “not-so-far away from home” getaway. Helen is an adorable little town.”

“The cabin was lovely, cozy, and tucked into the woods just as advertised! Comfortable, clean, well-stocked kitchen, linens and the check-in check-processes we easy and clear to follow. It was close to Main St/central Helen downtown as was advertised but was not easily walkable as we'd hoped given how close it was, and described to be down a long gravel road behind the FunFactory Center. We had an older man in our group that has limited walking/mobility, would have done well if it were flat/paved and with some lighting, so we had to drive to downtown spots and pay for parking anyway during busy festival weekend. But weather was great and a good time was had by all!!”

“My family enjoyed the BEST stay at Black Bear Creek Cabin. We were able to fully enjoy all that Helen had to offer from a walkable location (no parking frustrations!) but also relax in a completely peaceful, private setting. My kids LOVED the creek that runs around and under the deck. We spent time outdoors reading in the hammock and the swing, but we also loved being inside and doing puzzles at the very large kitchen table. I loved being in the same room as my kids in the bunk beds. This cabin is somewhere we will look forward to visiting again!!”

The only downside was the internet buffering during movies (not a big deal, just frustrating). Air conditioning is via window units, but the house is cool and comfortable.”

We enjoy walking and too advantage of being able to stroll into the edges of Helen in about 5 minutes, which is particularly helpful once parking starts to be a premium in town on weekends. The little creek running under the back deck was incredibly relaxing.”

“Very cute cabin. The back area is SO peaceful and doesn’t feel like you’re as close to town as you are. It’s a half mile easy walk to Betty’s Country Store. We never drove into town except to drive to the Cool River outpost. It’s a super quick walk to the short ride drop off for Cool River as well. If we’d had our own tubes we could have just hopped in right there! Date of arrival - June 29, 2023”

“My husband and I along with our three young children (6, 3, 1) visited Helen for Oktoberfest. We LOVED our Blue Creek Cabin! It has such a cozy feel; we felt right at home. It was very private but only a half mile from all of the festivities. Good size bedrooms with plenty of storage. The all in one kitchen/living area made it easy to keep an eye on the kids. The back porch was a big plus. It was a perfect place for the kids to run and play during the day, and a peaceful oasis in the evenings. There is a lot of shade so it was a bit cooler at the cabin than in town. I’m glad we had sweatshirts. The host was friendly and quick to respond to our questions. We had a great time!”

“We had the best stay here! I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Helen for the weekend. He loves cabins and this was the perfect little place! Very peaceful and private. The creek ran under the porch and was just so nice and beautiful. The cabin is not far from downtown Helen at all, so we ended up walking a lot because there’s not a lot of places to park in downtown that you don’t have to pay for, so it was a great location to walk. We will definitely be back for another stay ☺️”

“This is the first time I have ever used Vrbo to arrange a weekend getaway. It was so easy to make the reservations. The choices they showed me were exactly what I described. I chose this one because of the creek, also with the coziness, the decks overlooking the creek, the grill, table to eat at outside, hot tub. All of this is just what we needed. It was my daughter who had not taken a vacation from her job in 4 years with her 6 and 8 year old boys. It was perfect. We brought our food to grill and for breakfast. My grandsons lived in the creek searching for anything and everything. We all slept so good. All of the appliances were so clean and nice The whole place was so cozy. “My husband and I recently stayed at black bear creek cabin and had a great experience! I was a little worried it wouldn’t be secluded enough being as close as it was to the town but it definitely was. The rear is all wooded so even with a couple of neighbors, it felt secluded. We loved being able to walk into town without having to deal with the Helen weekend traffic. The cabin itself is a little older but it was just as advertised in the photos. It was so cute and clean and the master bed was comfortable. The outdoor space including fire pit, hammock, hot tub, and grill were all wonderful. The creek running through the property was just the icing on the cake to add to the relaxing atmosphere and I had fun looking for gold in the water. We’ve already talked about renting this cabin again bc we enjoyed it so much, I would def recommend for a couple or a family. Thank you for the great experience!”

“The cabin is located within walking distance of downtown Helen attractions, but is isolated and has a gorgeous series of back decks that abut nothing but the woods. A small stream runs through the back deck area offering a gentle sound of water flowing. The hot tub was clean and ready for use, as was the charcoal cooker. In the front yard there is plenty of parking, and although several yards in front of the cabin is a commercial building, there was no noise or people to be seen or heard...very isolated. When we entered the cabin the owner had left it decorated for the season (Christmas) and had music playing and it was very welcoming. The common space was spacious and open...with comfortable seating. The kitchen was in working order and had plenty of dishes and cookware. They could use a few more glasses for drinking as well as cooking utensils. The bedrooms were clean, cozy and comfortable. We did need more blankets at night, so we lucked out at a 'thrift store' nearby and got beautiful quilts. The bathroom was great, water pressure and amount of hot water was super. There were working tv's in each room with firestick capability. All in all, a very pleasant surprise in the heart of Helen. We will return!”

“absolute GEM!! Location could not be more perfect!! The back patio is (as my son put it) "paradise"!!! The sounds of the creek flowing behind the deck are so tranquil and relaxing. Everything about this cabin is comfortable, clean and exactly what you're looking for down to the very last detail. Less than 10 min walk to the store, restaurants and shops of Helen. We will definitely be back. My kids (13, 10, 9) actually asked if we could "live here forever"!! Cannot wait to get back this summer!!”

“This is not a complaint, I just wanted to mention here (I filled this out on the survey in the cabin) that the lightswitch to the rear flood lights (on the right as you walked out the rear door) became fairly hot to the touch after those lights were on for a few minutes. It wasn't hot enough to burn my hand. I'm no electrician, but I just wanted to mention it in case this needs to be looked at in terms of a fire hazard. Similarly my dining room light switch at home would feel hot and I found out the number of watts from the bulbs exceeded the rated capacity of the switch. It was changed out for a higher wattage rated switch and it's been cool to the touch since then. I'm not sure if you need a new switch or maybe lower watt bulbs (change to LED maybe?). Just a thought. Thank you for a great long weekend retreat for my family! COMPANY REVIEW:The staff were great to interact with. There were a few ants around the kitchen sink and I contacted them not to complain, just to let them know in case it got worse or they wanted to address it the next morning. Mariana immediately contacted me (it was in the evening when I initially called) and then the manager (I'm sorry, I don't recall his name) called the next morning. He was very apologetic (not really necessary, we weren't upset) and thoroughly explained the situation and offered a good and adequate remedy. Very professional.”

“Wonderful cozy cabin on the creek! Everything was exactly like all the reviews have said! Location: It was a little weird getting to in the late evening only because I was not expecting it. It is literally right behind the go kart racing building. Just turn down that gravel road and you will see it just a bit down that road on the left. The front porch view is the go kart racing building, behind trees though. You really spend all your time on the back porch so it hardly even matters at all. Town: It was so perfect to walk into town to restaurants, liquor store and grocery store! Local grocery store had local beers on tap too! Everything was definitely within walking distance which we loved! Everyone is super friendly! The town is a bit of a tourist trap, but we had fun doing things out in the area since Helen was just our base camp. House: The house was clean for sure! There was everything you needed and more in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. The beds were super comfy with more than 1 pillow per person! The indoor fireplace was nice to have! The floors were a bit squeaky, but not a big deal. Property: Outdoor patio with lights, table and chairs, etc were all wonderful with the sounds of the stream running in the background. Great place to relax and enjoy yourself. From the backyard you feel like there is no one around you. Around Helen: we did many hikes and parks such as Ana Ruby Falls, Desoto Falls, Unicoi State Park, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Angel Falls, Brasstown Bald, the AT and much more. Also visit the Nora Mill Granary in Helen. The Owners: Super responsive to questions when we had one and easy to get into contact with. Gave detailed instructions for checkout and also many suggestions that we were all very helpful! Highly recommend this cabin! It exceeded our exceptions and we had a wonderful stay! “The cabin was exactly as described on VRBO. Secluded, yet close enough to town to walk in and enjoy the restaurants, coffee houses, street life and country store. The place is so heavily wooded, time did not have much meaning. If you're looking for quiet, you've found the right place. We based out of Helen and did several hikes in the local area: Anna Ruby Falls, Desoto Falls, Springer Mountain (AT), Minnehana Falls, Helton Creek Falls, Dukes Creek Falls and Amicalola Falls. This place was right where we wanted to be. Much more room than it seems in the photos, with a rustic feel, but all the conveniences you might need. We tended to leave the TV off and just enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest. July 4th was alot of traffic, both in town and on the river, but fun to be around as well. An overall great experience.”

“Everything was as described in the renter's instructions. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. I recommend it without any reservations.”

“Once we were able to find it, we found it quite charming. Although it was smaller than it looked in the pictures. Not that it was a big deal for just 2 people and a small puppy!! It was a very relaxing place. We walked into town on many occasions - enjoyed the porch in evening - walked the creek (added more rocks to the waterfall), just an overall relaxing time. We like being away from town - but yet, being close enough to get things. I would recommend this place for a quiet get away!!! Tubing was great - river was low at the beginning but was ok towards the end. Pretty much, once you have been through town, you have seen it. The putt putt golf was ok, not as challenging as we are used to, but it was something to do. Oh, and if you are the adventurous type and like to hike to the falls, be careful on the Ravens Cliff Trail Head. Our whole group wound up getting attacked by swarms of wasps / bees that came out of the ground. Not sure what they were, nor does the CDC. I wound up with over 40 stings. They didn't go away and my husband had approximately 30. Visited the doctor as soon as we got back - heavy steroids to try and calm the welts down. Just a word of warning. The other hikes to Dukes Creek Falls and to Anna Ruby Falls were fine - no issues and more of a water fall to look at. The Sugar ants are bothersome but the amonia spray does take care of them!”

“We had a great time in this cozy cabin. It has everything you need and it feels like home. Sitting outside with the forest view and sound of the creek was very relaxing. We loved walking to Betty's (the grocery store), and to the trail in back of the park. The house has the best location. I recommend this cabin to anyone that loves the outdoors. A few ants in the kitchen but that didn't bother me much. Thank you for sharing your house with us. It was lovely.”
