“This cottage has an amazing location, is well kept and super clean. The creek in the back is huge perk at this property. It’s very secluded but also such a short drive to Helen if you’re looking for activities. The place fit our family of 8 very comfortably with plenty of room to have privacy. Host is super helpful and very fast to respond with any questions or help you may need. Seeing deer daily in the yard was a highlight for our little ones.”

“This was a last minute stop from Tennessee to our way to Georgia to do a quick visit to Helen GA. For a family of 8 this was a great find! We had everything we needed. Ten minutes away from Helen in a very peaceful place. Creek is pretty but not good to get into it as is a little muddy but overall a great place if looking for a place to rest while visiting Helen GA. The host was very communicative and instructions were easy to follow.”

“Location is very private and secluded and beautiful surroundings. Denise, the property manager was great with her communication and response time and we really appreciated that. The king size beds were really comfortable and the bedding was good quality. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you need. The house was immaculate. The hot tub was new and functioned well. It was a bit iffy getting up the gravel road but if you put your car in low gear it goes much more smoothly up the drive. Only two things about the cabin that disappointed us were that the pool table looks full size in the pictures but it is just a little kids table, and the fireplace did not work for us while we were there. We paid more than usual because of those amenities so that was kind of a let down, but other than those two things it was a great gathering place for our annual family reunion and Denise said she would correct the fireplace issue for future renters!. She was great to deal with!”

“Cabin was prepped with a welcome to your stay in mind. Music was on, ceiling fan cooled our entry, and very clean. Lots of notes to help guide how to use amenities like hot tub, security system, and a guide of things to do in the area. If our zipline plans fell apart, we had other options. We grilled that first nite we stayed and ate out the remaining time. This cabin had two small pool tables and toys for family with children. We didn't have any children with us on this trip, however, we did use the pool table on main floor. The backyard had a stream running through and we used the firepit that we enjoyed next to the stream. We highly recommend staying here.”

“Our group had a wonderful Christmas week here. It was super cozy and they also decorated the place for us. I loved walking into the cabin and seeing a beautiful lit Christmas tree. Can’t beat the sound of the creek while sitting next to the camp fire at night. The beds were very comfortable and we also slept well while we were here. Highly recommend for a relaxing winter stay!”

“Everything was clean and fully stocked. Fire pit out back was so fun to make s’mores with the kids. Plenty of games and activity tables. Gas fireplace was warm and cozy. I highly recommend staying here.”

“Our family enjoyed our stay at the Lazy Bear. Wonderful communication! Owners were extremely helpful and quick in responding even later in the evening when we asked if we could extend our trip. House was clean and cozy. A ton of games and two pool tables. We enjoyed the hot tub the most!! Creek was so peaceful sounding from the back porch and we loved playing in it in the evenings. Great location, close the stores and super close to Helen but still felt private and peaceful. There was plenty of space for our family of 7. We especially loved the big table to play cards every night. We had a wonderful time and would book this house again in the future. It was just perfect for all our needs. We even saw deer in the front yard! Thank you for making our stay memorable.”

“The cabin was very nice and had everything you would need and was close to everything! I loved how it had plenty of gaming tables and game options to help entertain during the evenings or downtime. The hot tub was great to soak in after spending a day in town or hiking! The best feature in this rental was the shampoo and bodywash in every shower! Wish that was normal in every rental, made it so nice and easy! Only 10 minutes from helen and close to so many hiking trips and falls. Never seen much wildlife but a bear did get into one of the trashcans one night. Even had it strapped shut but it drug it away and broke it enough to get in. Was cool that one was near at least. Loved the screened in porches on top and bottom, that was a huge addition to this place! Loved sitting out back and watching and listening to the creek flow and never getting ate up by bugs. The only downfall to the place was the 1/2 mile drive off the hwy. About a 1/4 of it was rough and gravel on a steep incline. Made it up every time at least though. That and the 12 drip coffee maker didn't work well. Recommend 10/10”

“Pros: location, spacious house, Creek, comfy beds, fully-stocked kitchen, hot tub, campfire, and great communication with hosts. Cons: older house, couch covers (not pictured), bunk bed picture is incorrect, steep stairs to basement In summary, we were pleased with our experience!”

“Lazy Bear Cottage provided a cozzy home feeling for my family. There was plenty of room for all. There were both indoor and outdoor activities that were loved by all ages. My 7 year old grandson hasn’t stopped talking about it and wants us to buy it. I recommend that any family like ours, parents, children and grands stay here. It would also work well for a group retreat. We also enjoyed activities in Helen.”

“The cabin was absolutely perfect for our family! The proximity to downtown Helen and the other state parks made it ideal for being able to pop in and out between nap times with the kids. We honestly enjoyed the little town area of Sautee the most, and there was a park just down the road. It was also the most well stocked house we’ve rented, and didn’t even have to use the extra supplies we had packed. Our kids loved having a bonfire each night and running around all the property during the day. It’s the perfect combination of getting away from all the busyness of Helen, but still being close enough to get into town. All of us wish we had made this a longer trip!”

“We stayed here with our extended family, our kids, their spouses, and families...we had a party of ten at the cabin. The space is well stocked, and really comfortable. The 3 adult couples had privacy, and the kids had their own play and sleep space! We LOVED the upstairs/main level balcony as a regular hangout. The kids and adults loved playing and sitting in the creek in the back yard, and the firepit was a great place to relax late into the evening. The property had LOTS of wildlife, we saw an armadillo in the evening near the firepit, a raccoon and deer in the backyard while relaxing in the creek, had an early morning visit from a bear in the front yard, and saw a small herd of deer and a brown owl early one evening when returning from town. I highly recommend Lazy Bear Cabin, and plan to rent again in the future. The Location is super convenient too, as it's a short drive to many local tourist places.”

“This is the second time staying at this location,and like last time it was perfect. Some modifications have been made since last year, only enhanced the stay even more. The cabin is in the perfect spot for Helen or Cleveland. Definitely coming back again, and again.”

“We stayed for a long weekend as 2 families of 4 with 4 adults and 4 teenagers. The setup of the house was perfect with two master suites and lots of room for the teenagers downstairs. The house was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed Helen and the surrounding area and are hoping to return for the fall colors!”

“This is a great quiet property close to so many highlights in the area. We enjoyed a German meal in Helen, spent a day at Unicoi/Anna Ruby Falls, and did a lot of relaxing at the house. It had everything we were looking for - beautiful private scenery, hot tub, fire pit, close to hikes/natural attractions. Since it was winter, we didn't explore the creek, but it would be perfect for my 3 young kids to play in during warmer months! (And the reason I'm looking into another trip here in summer!) Just sitting by the firepit listening to the bubbling water was great this time. There's plenty of space for kids to run around outside and explore without even leaving the property. Wi-fi is fast and can handle multiple streaming devices. The house was well-stocked with everything (plenty of towels without having to do laundry all the time), kitchen was well organized as was everything else you could be looking for (all the labels and signs were helpful). If we come back to the area, I would look to book this house again.”

“Our family had a great time staying in the cabin and visiting around the area. The kids (and adults) loved the games, game tables and puzzles. The kids enjoyed cooling off in the small creek at the back of the house. The hot tub was nice too. The house was big enough for all of us, it was clean and comfortable. Great to have a washer and dryer on site! We used the kitchen and the grill, very nice! If we are in the area we will definitely stay here again!”

“Excellent family home. Even though it rained the first 2 days, the darts, pool table kept everyone occupied. 3 generations stayed, house is roomy enough for everyone to have privacy as needed, but great way to reconnect with everyone. Only downside I saw was internet connection. Teens weren't thrilled. But gave us the opportunity to get close with kids and grandkids. Highly recommend it.”

“I feel bad about not giving five stars, this place really is nice. The location is private and beautiful, and the cabin is clean and well furnished. There were a few oddities like the transition between the dining room and living room being a slight step down which kept tripping people up, and the Wifi gets about 6MBPS and really crept slowly trying to keep up with 6 people with devices. The beds are very comfortable and the house is well furnished for families. Hot tub is very nice, and it would have been nice to be there when the yard was in better shape, recent landscaping was a bit muddy and messy. The road in is unpaved and a bit treacherous, but two minivans made in through and were no worse for wear. Great proximity to Helen, Dahlonega, Cleaveland, and Clarkesville. Great creek in the back and good birdwatching. Would strongly consider returning here again.”

“Property is perfect for a family get-away. The creek that runs the back of the property is so beautiful and relaxing to listen to the babble of the water. Our family had plans to go to a snow resort for a daytrip but everyone voted no- they wanted to just hangout in the cabin and play games- so we did. We really enjoyed our family time. Plenty to do right there!”

“Great cabin only a few miles from the shops and attractions in Helen. We had plenty of room and the cabin is awesome. Hot tub was clean and the scenery was beautiful. Quiet location and highly recommended. Will stay again in the future.”

“This cabin is in a perfect spot, not to far away from Helen Ga. The cabin itself was immaculate, very clean. There was enough room for all of us (5), but could have easily held more. We loved playing darts and pool. The hot tub was a great way to end our day. The outside was picture perfect with woods and creek. We enjoyed a fire in the nights cool air. We also saw deer in the back yard and from yard. Very relaxing place. I will definitely book this place again.”

The hot tub and fire pit were perfect for cool nights and mornings. Note that the road in is a little rustic, and isn’t all that well marked. When you see the “private drive” signs it’s ok, that’s for you. It’s very private back there. Great trip!”
